The Camera That Changed Everything

The camera has taken me to places I once thought were unthinkable ????.

Dubai.
Tanzania.
Uganda.
And countless towns, cities, and hidden gems across our beloved Kenya.

Every stamp on my passport, every dusty road, every airport queue carries a story—and strangely enough, many of those stories begin with a camera hanging around my neck.

Now, you might be wondering:
What is a Pure Mathematics and Statistics student doing with a camera?

That question right there is perfect
Because the answer is bigger than photography.

How the Camera Found Me

How I came to hold the camera is a long story—one for another day. Perhaps during one of our many mini-stories, pale G-Shots Media Studios, Kenol. Every brand has a beginning, and most beginnings are messy, uncertain, and fueled by curiosity rather than clarity.

What matters more than how I started is what the journey revealed.

The camera was never just a tool. It was a passport. A bridge. A classroom. A mirror.

It taught me how the world sees stories—and how stories, when told well, can open doors that degrees alone sometimes cannot.

The Power of Skills in a Digital World

Let me pause here and emphasize something important:
Skills matter.

And in today’s world, digital skills matter even more.

We are living in an era where the rules keep changing. Jobs are evolving. Entire industries are being disrupted. What worked five years ago may not work tomorrow. In such a world, rigidity is dangerous—but flexibility is powerful.

That realization pushed me to think beyond titles and traditional paths.

Not Just a Photographer

I am not a full-time photographer or videographer—no.
I have an incredible team that handles that side professionally.

I chose something bigger.

Impact.

As a digital skills coach and trainer at Certitude Digital College, I get the privilege of shaping mindsets, changing perspectives, and empowering young people for a future that refuses to stand still. I don’t just teach tools; I help students understand why skills matter and how to adapt when the tools change.

Seeing a young person gain confidence, clarity, and competitiveness in the digital space—that is a reward no lens can capture.

Multiple Paths, One Purpose

And here’s where the story gets even more interesting.

As we speak, I also run a big beauty brand as a professional beauty therapist in Narok Town—a story for another day ????. Yes, you can trust me with your bride’s makeup ????.

To some, this might seem confusing. Mathematics. Photography. Digital training. Beauty.

But to me, it makes perfect sense.

They are all skills.
They all solve problems.
They all create value.

And value is universal.

A Message to Young People

We must encourage our young people to be flexible and liberal in thinking.

Engineering is great.
Medicine is honorable.
Pure sciences are powerful.

But imagine combining Engineering with Graphic Design, or Statistics with Data Visualization, or Education with Social Media Marketing.

You don’t lose focus—you gain an edge.

The most competitive individuals today are not those who know only one thing, but those who can blend disciplines, communicate across fields, and adapt quickly. Being “all-round” is no longer a weakness; it is a survival skill.

Final Thoughts

The camera taught me that life doesn’t have to follow a straight line to make sense. Sometimes, the detours are the curriculum.

So whether you are a student, a professional, or someone questioning your current path—don’t be afraid to learn a new skill, especially a digital one. You never know which door it might open, or which country it might take you to next.

Now let me ask you:
What skill are you sitting on—or ignoring—that could completely change your journey?
